SANTA FE, N.M. (8/12/2026) — Human Rights Alliance (HRA) has received a $10,800 grant from the Gamma Mu Foundation to expand its mental health programming for LGBTQ+ people in Santa Fe and throughout Northern New Mexico.
The grant will support HRA’s expansion from one weekly support group to six weekly offerings serving youth, older adults, transgender and gender-expansive people, men and women, and participants seeking silent meditation. These programs provide welcoming spaces where participants can build relationships, reduce isolation, and receive support for their emotional well-being.
“Having a place where you feel safe, understood, and connected can make an enormous difference,” said Kevin Bowen, executive director of Human Rights Alliance. “The Gamma Mu Foundation’s support helps us expand these opportunities and respond to the diverse needs of LGBTQ+ people across generations in Northern New Mexico.”
HRA’s mental health programming is part of its broader commitment to strengthening community and expanding access to affirming services. The expanded offerings provide multiple entry points for people seeking connection and support, including those who face geographic isolation or limited access to LGBTQ+-affirming resources.
The Gamma Mu Foundation supports LGBTQ+ communities throughout the United States, with particular emphasis on rural and underserved populations. Its funding priorities include community support services, education, and health initiatives.
Founded in 1993, Human Rights Alliance advances equity and opportunity for LGBTQ+ people in Northern New Mexico through advocacy, education, direct services, and community building. HRA received the Santa Fe Community Foundation’s 2026 Piñon Award for Courageous Innovation.
