Happy Friday—and warm Easter wishes to those who celebrate,
As we approach the one-year anniversary of the PRIDE Center, we find ourselves reflecting not only on how far we’ve come, but on why this work matters now more than ever. In a time when LGBTQ+ communities across the country are facing increasing challenges, spaces like the PRIDE Center here in Santa Fe are not just meaningful—they are essential.
What we have built together over the past year is more than a center. It is a place of safety, affirmation, resilience, and collective care. It is proof that when community shows up for one another, we create something powerful and lasting.
We invite you to join us on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for a special Open House as we mark this one-year milestone. This gathering is both a celebration and a recommitment—to each other, and to the work ahead.
We are also proud to share that the Human Rights Alliance has received a grant from the New Mexico Department of Health, which will allow us to expand our support group offerings to four sessions per week. At a time when access to affirming mental health care is critical, this expansion ensures that more members of our community can receive free, supportive services with Marie Turco, LCSW. More information on how to participate is included below.
As we grow, so does the need for leadership from within our community. We are actively seeking volunteers to participate in facilitator training and help lead peer support groups. This is an opportunity to step into community care in a meaningful way—supporting others while strengthening the fabric of connection that sustains us all.
PRIDE 2026 is also on the horizon, and this year’s theme—Many Colors, One PRIDE—is a reflection of both our diversity and our unity. Our main celebration will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with events happening throughout the month that uplift, educate, and mobilize.
We are honored to once again partner with the New Mexico History Museum to offer two free community lectures. Dr. PJ Sedillo will present If These T-Shirts Could Talk, marking 50 years of Albuquerque PRIDE and PRIDE along Route 66, and author and historian Garrett Peck will share insights into queer life in 1980s Santa Fe through his talk, The Epoch 80’s. These moments of storytelling and reflection remind us that our history is not only worth preserving—it is a foundation for continued advocacy.
As we move forward, we do so with intention. We remain committed to protecting our community, expanding access to care, and standing firmly in the face of challenges. This work requires all of us—our voices, our
presence, and our willingness to show up for one another.
Thank you for being part of this movement.
Be well, stay strong, and stay engaged!
