📢 It’s time for some exciting updates from the Human Rights Alliance! We’re thrilled to kick off our Capital Campaign to open an LGBTQIA+ Center in Santa Fe. This Center will be a vital hub for our community, offering support groups, programming for youth and seniors, and more. With your help, we can make this dream a reality! 🌈 We’ve got some fantastic news on the national front! The Biden Administration recently finalized two rules that are incredibly positive for the LGBTQIA+ community:
- Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act Finalized Rule: This rule reinstates crucial patient rights and strengthens broad protections from discrimination in health programs and activities based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and more.
- Title IX Finalized Rule: These updates strengthen the legal rights of LGBTQ+ students and survivors of sexual assault, ensuring they feel safe and respected at school regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
- In addition, a Federal Appeals Court ruled on Monday that state health insurance plans must cover gender-affirming care in NC and WV. See the story here.
🙋♀️ And last but not least, we need volunteer assistance for PRIDE 2024. Our first event is ‘Get Out the Vote‘ on June 1st, from 8:00 am – to 10:00 am at the Historic Santa Fe Plaza. Let’s make our voices heard together!
