Happy Wednesday to all,
It’s easy to understand that many people prefer to have a limited diet of news and current events these days.
Events that occurred in the last 10 days, specifically the mass shooting at a Catholic Church in Minneapolis, are flash points, and the following aftermath of hate speech, fear mongering, and anti-trans and LGBTQ rhetoric will definitely negatively impact our community in many ways. Other GOP elected officials are calling to label LGBTQ+ organizations as Terrorist Groups, while others are referring to Trans humans as Satan.
We are in dire and dangerous times, and we must support one another in our community and become as educated as possible on how to ‘clap back’ against these lies and mistruths. Our very existence depends on our strength, solidarity, intelligence, and persistence. HRA will begin an informational campaign in the next week to educate our community on their rights, how to be proactive, involved, and a force of positive impact and LOVE.
Santa Fe will be holding a mayoral election with eight candidates running to become the next mayor of the ‘city different’. We will provide information about these candidates and their views and support for the LGBTQ+ community via a published questionnaire that we will release in the next several days through our friends at Earthcare. Do not decide who to cast your vote for until you have reviewed this questionnaire. We will keep you posted. Keep in mind that there are also city council seats that are open and will need to be filled as well, and these positions are also important in how our city operates.
The most significant changes we can make are locally, through our actions and involvement, and in who we vote into office to represent ‘We the People.’
