In collaboration with the New Mexico History Museum, HRA screened the important Queer documentary from 1977 – Word Is Out on June 21, 2024. Through this collaboration, we were able to get some rare footage of original interviews that had been done here in New Mexico with several members of the Queer community. This short video is a small sampling of an inside look at Queer life here in New Mexico. 

This documentary proves that still today, the LGBTQIA+ Community deals with the same issues, trauma, and injustices that they did back almost 50 years ago. Though things have changed – some things have not. Now, more than ever, starting and continuing intergenerational conversations with our community is needed.  Enjoy; this video will only be available for a limited time on our web page.
